Kimmswick holds it's annual Strawberry Festival on the first full weekend in the month of June. The 2010 Festival will be on June 5th and 6th from 10am to 5pm.
The Strawberry Festival is smaller in size than the Annual Apple Butter Festival but is growing larger each year. The City allows no more than 125 food and craft vendors for this festival. An estimated 30,000 visitors walk through Kimmswick on this weekend. The Strawberry theme can be found throughout our town in the shops, restaurants and our street vendors. Our wonderful Strawberry Jam can be purchased at the quaint City Hall building that was built in 1903 and is still being used today for the Police Dept., City Government meetings and Municipal Court. Stop by the Visitor's Center and taste some of Imperial's Farmer's Market fresh strawberry shortcakes along with their trays of strawberries for sale.
The Kimmswick Park will please kids and adults alike. There will be a petting zoo, pony rides, various inflatables, and small carnival like rides. Our Fire district's safe house will be there on Saturday to teach the children fire safety. The Marine Corps League will be selling concessions along with trays of their delicious, juicy strawberries. Hi Tadah, the famous top spinning artist will also be entertaining throughout the day.
There will be various musical artists around town for your listening pleasure. Miller Beer Products can be purchased at 2 beer stands within the city.
A variety of food vendors will be selling their tasty treats and they will be sure to satisfy your taste buds, some foods that will be offered are kettle corn, shish kebobs, funnel cakes, onion blossoms, smoked pork chops and BBQ burgers and hotdogs.
For the safety of our vendors and visitors only foot traffic is allowed in town during festival hours. Parking for a fee is available off of Hwy K. and Windsor School Campus, there will be shuttle busses running continuously from Windsor School area.
Handicap parking is available but very limited.
The shops and restaurants will be open.
